What you can do with Akili

Akili is one workspace for conversations, custom agents, automation, content and the knowledge behind them. This page walks the areas in the order most people meet them, and links to the guide for each.

Short answer

Start in Chat. When a conversation becomes a job you repeat, make it an agent or a skill. When a job has steps and a schedule, make it a flow. Studio produces the documents and posts; the Library, knowledge bases and projects hold what all of them read. Billing, organization settings and the API sit underneath everything.

Chat

Ask anything in a conversation that keeps its history, lets you branch, regenerate with a different model, attach files and knowledge bases, search the web, run deep research and read answers with their sources. Chats live in folders, projects and tags, and any chat can be shared.

Agents

Build a custom assistant with its own instructions, model, avatar, starters, capabilities and knowledge. An assisted builder drafts it from a sentence. Share it with people or your organization, embed it on a website as webchat, watch its inbox and expose it to other agents.

Agents guide

Skills

Reusable procedure packages (a SKILL.md file with references, assets and optional scripts) that an agent loads only when a task calls for them. Create, import, version, evaluate and review skills, then attach them to agents or run them from chat with a / command.

Skills guide

Council

Send one question to three to five models at once. An adjudicator that never sits on the council reads every answer, counts agreements and disagreements per claim, fact-checks the load-bearing numbers and writes one synthesis.

Council guide

Flows

Automate multi-step work: a trigger (schedule, webhook, event, agent or manual) starts a run that chains agent turns, councils, tool and app calls, Studio documents, logic and approvals. Runs and approvals have their own pages.

Flows guide

Studio and publishing

Turn a prompt into a presentation, document, web page, design, image or social post, then edit it, apply a theme, import existing files, export it and publish it to social channels from one composer.

Studio guide

Maps

A map-first chat: find and compare places, read details and opening hours, plan routes and export what you found. Start from the Explore places card on the home page.

Library, knowledge bases and projects

The Library holds your files and collections. Knowledge bases index documents so chats and agents can answer from them. Projects group chats, files, notes, links and members around one piece of work, with sharing that cascades.

Library guide

Marketplace and connectors

Install agents other publishers listed, or enroll and publish your own. Connect the apps you already use (Slack, GitHub, Google Drive, Jira, Notion and more) through MCP connectors, or add a custom MCP server.

Marketplace guide

Billing

Plans from Free to Enterprise, credits that every model call and search draw from, usage you can inspect and cap, promo codes and free trials at checkout, and seats for teams.

Plans and billing

Organization

Members, invitations and roles; policies that switch Maps, Council, memory, web search, skills, connectors and model choice on or off for everyone; SSO and domain verification; your own provider keys; audit log and webhooks.

Mobile

The Akili mobile app carries chat with voice, agents, council, flows, knowledge, the library, projects, maps, the marketplace, publishing and your account settings, in the same ten languages as the web app.

API

Call agents and the platform from your own code with scoped API keys, receive organization webhooks and read each agent's A2A card. The developer documentation covers the endpoints.

API overview

Good to know

  • If you are new: read Getting started first; it takes about ten minutes and ends with your first agent.
  • If you administer an organization: the policies described in the Organization guide decide which of these areas your members see. A feature that is off shows a short explanation instead of an empty page.
  • If you build integrations: every agent also answers over HTTP with an API key, and its card is served at /agents/<id>/.well-known/agent.json for agent-to-agent calls.
  • If you work in another language: the interface is available in ten languages; change yours under Settings. The documentation itself is in English.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to set anything up before I can use Akili?

No: sign in, open a new chat and ask. Model choice defaults to Auto, which picks a model per message. Knowledge bases, agents and connectors are optional and you add them when you need them.

Why do I not see Skills or Council in my sidebar?

Skills are behind the AGENT_SKILLS switch and an organization policy. Council is included in the Business and Enterprise plans and can be switched off by an organization administrator. Both show an explanation page rather than disappearing silently.

Does everything run on one AI model?

No. The model picker lists every provider model your organization has enabled plus Akili's Auto, Fast, Balanced and Deep meta models. You can change the model mid-conversation and regenerate an answer with a different one.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. The mobile app covers chat with voice, agents, council, flows, knowledge, library, projects, maps, marketplace, publishing and settings, and uses the same account and credits as the web app.
