Getting Started

The essentials for using Akili — chatting with models, adding knowledge, building agents, and tracking credit usage.

1. Start a conversation

Sign in and open a new chat. Pick a model from the model picker — Akili supports GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Mistral, and self-hosted Ollama models. You can switch models mid-conversation without losing context.

2. Add knowledge (optional)

From Knowledge, create a knowledge base and upload documents or paste URLs. Attach it to a chat or agent and Akili retrieves relevant passages automatically before answering (RAG).

3. Create a custom agent

Go to Agents → New agent. Give it a system prompt, attach a knowledge base, and set model preferences. Agents can be kept private, shared with your organization, or published to the marketplace.

4. Understand credits

Every AI response consumes credits based on the model and token usage. Your organization's credit balance and usage history are visible in Settings → Billing. When you're close to your plan's limit, purchase more credits or upgrade your plan from the Upgrade page.
