Plans and billing
Which plan does what, how to upgrade, how seats are billed for a team, and where your invoices and card live.

Short answer
/upgrade or Settings → Billing; payment runs through Stripe Checkout, and the Stripe billing portal holds your invoices, card and cancellation. Prices are on the pricing page, never in these docs.Plans at a glance
Every plan is a bundle of features and limits. The table lists what each tier is for; the exact numbers (messages a day, knowledge bases, storage, API keys and so on) are printed on each plan card at /pricing.
| Plan | Type | Seats | Designed for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Personal | 1 | Trying Akili. Never charged and never expires; the smallest limits and a short list of included models. |
| Pro | Personal | 1 | One person who researches, codes and organizes: file uploads, memory, deep research, Flows and API access. |
| Max | Personal | 1 | Higher limits, priority access and every server-side model. |
| Team | Organization | 5–50 | A shared workspace with members, Slack and Teams deployment and Google Workspace integration. |
| Business | Organization | 10–2,000 | Security and scale: SSO, audit logs, organization policies, enforced two-factor and Council. |
| Enterprise | Organization | Custom | Contract pricing, custom SLAs and self-hosted deployment support. Contact sales; there is no checkout. |
What changes between plans
Each tier keeps everything from the one below it and adds the items here.
Free
- Chat with a short list of included models, a handful of knowledge bases and a few custom agents.
- No file uploads in chat, no memory, no Flows and no API keys. Chat history is kept for a limited number of days.
Pro
- File uploads, conversation memory with automatic extraction, memory import and context export.
- Deep research in chat, MCP servers and code execution, agent versioning and the embeddable webchat widget.
- Flows with AI draft assist, Studio publishing, templates, premium images and custom branding.
- API key generation and a larger set of included models.
Max
- Higher limits across the board and access to every server-side model.
- White-label webchat, more webchat deployments and SMS as a second factor.
Team
- A shared organization workspace with members, roles, invitations and pooled credits.
- Deploy agents to Slack and Microsoft Teams, connect Google Workspace, and publish to the Marketplace.
- Webhook triggers in Flows and agents that carry their own credentials.
Business
- Enterprise SSO (SAML and OIDC), domain verification, immutable audit logs and organization policies.
- Enforced two-factor authentication, memory governance for admins, and Council.
- Paid Marketplace listings and the Microsoft Dataverse connector.
Enterprise
- Unlimited seats and limits, self-hosted deployment support and custom SLAs.
- Custom domains for Studio pages, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Partner Center connectors.
When you hit a limit, Akili shows an upgrade prompt naming the plan that lifts it, with links to review the agents or knowledge bases that are over the line.
Upgrade and check out
Upgrading needs the billing permission: workspace owners and members with the billing role. Everyone else can read the Billing section but cannot change the plan.
- Step 1
Open the plan picker
Go to/upgrade, or open Settings → Billing and choose Upgrade plan. New accounts pick a plan on/signup/planright after sign-up; Continue with Free skips payment entirely. - Step 2
Choose the billing period
Checkout preselects yearly billing and shows a Save N% badge when it is cheaper. Switch to Monthly with the radio buttons. Each quote line reads “{period} · {seats} seats × {unit price}”. - Step 3
Set the seat count (organization plans)
Use the add and remove seat buttons. The count is bounded by the plan's minimum and maximum seats, and the quote updates on every change. - Step 4
Add a promo code if you have one
Expand Have a promo code?, enter the code and apply it. The quote adds a discount or trial line. See Coupons and trials. - Step 5
Review the quote and subscribe
The order details show the subtotal, any discount, Total due today and the auto-renew notice with the renewal date and amount. Prices exclude tax. Press Subscribe (or Start free trial) to go to Stripe Checkout. - Step 6
Wait for confirmation
After payment you land on/upgrade/success, which polls until the new plan is active and then says “New limits are active immediately.” If it is still processing, open Settings → Billing a moment later. Sign-up checkouts return to the welcome flow instead.
Seats and team billing
Team and Business are billed per seat: the seat count you chose at checkout becomes the subscription quantity, so the charge is seats times the unit price for the period. Personal plans are fixed at one seat.
- Per-seat credits, pooled. Each seat adds the plan’s per-seat credit allowance to one organization pool, with the plan’s floor applying at the smallest team sizes. Every member draws from the same pool; see Credits and usage.
- Existing subscribers keep their terms. A subscription started before a plan’s price or credit allowance changed keeps its price and its monthly allowance until you change plan.
- Headroom. You can invite as many members as the plan’s seat limit minus the current member count. Invitations by email stop at the limit; invite codes are not seat-checked at redemption.
- Changing the seat count. The billing portal changes plans and periods but not quantity. Email
support@ntegral.comto add or remove seats. - Marketplace purchases. If you bought through Azure Marketplace,
/activate/seatsis where you assign seats, invite members and connect Entra ID; Stripe is not involved.
Billing portal, invoices and payment
Your card, invoice history, receipts and tax details are held by Stripe. Open Settings → Billing and press Manage in Stripeunder Payment & invoices; the portal opens and returns you to the same section when you are done.
In the portal you can:
- Download invoices and receipts.
- Update the payment method, billing address, email, name, phone and tax ID.
- Change plan or price (prorated) and apply a promotion code.
- Cancel at the end of the current period, with a reason.
There is no invoice list inside Akili; the portal is the only place to see them. A workspace that has never been charged shows No billing account instead of the button.
Change plan, switch period or cancel
The Manage subscription block in Settings → Billing has three actions, and all of them open the Stripe portal at the right step:
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Change plan | Pick another plan in the portal. The difference is prorated on the next invoice. |
| Switch billing period | Move between monthly and annual. Also prorated. |
| Cancel subscription | Sets the subscription to cancel at period end. Your plan stays active until the date shown; nothing further is charged. |
The Subscription card shows the status (Active, Trial, Past due, Canceled or Free plan), the billing period, the seat count, Renews on or Access ends on, and the amount at renewal. Any member with billing read access can see it.
What happens on downgrade or cancellation
- Cancellation is never immediate. The subscription ends when the paid period does. Until then the Billing section shows “This subscription is set to cancel” with the end date.
- After the period ends the subscription is marked Canceled and the workspace runs on the free plan’s limits. Only an Active or Trial subscription grants a paid plan.
- Past due works the same way. A failed renewal drops the workspace to free entitlements until the card is fixed in the portal.
- Nothing is deleted. Chats, agents, knowledge bases and files stay. Anything above the free limits waits until you remove the excess or upgrade again.
Good to know
- Signed out and following an upgrade link? You are sent to sign-up first; the plan, seats, period and any promo code travel with you.
- Checkout canceled? No charge is made. The plan page says so and lets you pick again.
- Email notifications. Settings → General → Notifications has a toggle for plan changes, low credits and marketplace updates.
- Buying for several companies? Partners buy seats once and hand out redeem codes; clients enter no card. See the partner program link in the Billing section.
- Portal will not open? Subscriptions that cover more than one product, or that already have a scheduled change, cannot be edited in the portal. Email
support@ntegral.com.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I see the price of each plan?
On the pricing page (/pricing) and again at checkout, where the quote shows the subtotal, any discount, tax treatment and the total due today before you confirm. Prices are not repeated in the documentation because the pricing page is the source of truth.
Who can change the plan or open the billing portal?
Workspace owners and members with the billing role. Admins without the billing role can read the Billing section but see the notice "Only workspace owners and billing admins can manage billing."
Is annual billing cheaper than monthly?
Checkout shows a "Save N%" badge next to the yearly option when the annual price is lower. Annual is preselected; choose Monthly on the checkout page if you prefer it. You can switch later from Settings → Billing → Switch billing period.
Do I lose my chats, agents or files when I cancel?
No. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you paid for, and after that the workspace runs on the free plan's limits. Nothing is deleted; anything above a free limit waits until you trim it or upgrade again.
Why does my plan say "Past due"?
The last payment did not go through. Open Manage in Stripe from Settings → Billing and update the card; the plan stays past due, with free-plan entitlements, until the payment succeeds.
