Studio: decks, documents and designs
Turn a sentence and your own sources into a deck, a document, a web page, a set of social posts or a design, then edit, share and export it.

Short answer
Create from a prompt
The Studio home opens on a prompt box. Pick what to make (Deck, Doc, Page or Post), type a sentence, and the first three slides redraw live as you type, on a three-slide budget and free of charge. Draft it makes the full piece. For more control, open Create:
- Step 1
Choose the type and write the brief
Presentation, document, webpage or social post; design when it is enabled. The brief takes up to 4,000 characters. With a template chosen you can leave it empty and let the template drive the outline. - Step 2
Set the shape
Decks take a slide count from 1 to 50 (10 by default); other types take a length of short, medium or long. Add a style, a tone and an audience if you want the model to lean a certain way. - Step 3
Add context
Pick knowledge bases and drop documents, images or markdown as sources, up to 20 files of 25 MB each. Each file can be used as knowledge, as images, or both; the choices can be remembered per type. Sources are kept in your Library and Knowledge so you can reuse them. - Step 4
Pick the look and the images
Choose a theme, or one customized from your brand profile, and decide whether to include images and whether they come from stock (free) or are generated (5 credits each). - Step 5
Generate
The button shows the price. Studio writes an outline, then the piece, and opens it in the editor; a job that is still running shows its progress.
Remix
Remix is the AI edit rail in every editor. Describe the change (make slide 3 about pricing, then tighten the conclusion), or pick a quick edit (shorten headlines, add a summary slide, reorder for the story), a tone, or Translate to a locale. With preview on, Akili shows the proposed slides or sections first and you accept the ones you want or discard the lot; credits are held for the preview and settled only for what you accept. Remix reads the piece's context sources, so add a document to Context first if the edit should draw on it.
Themes and brand profiles
Twenty system themes ship with Studio, and a deck can be re-themed at any time from the editor's theme panel. A brand profile goes further: primary, secondary, accent, background, surface and text colors, heading and body fonts, a type scale, spacing, corner radius, logo placement and imagery direction. Manage profiles from Customize themes on the create page. Anyone keeps personal profiles; profiles shared with the workspace need an organization admin, who can also set one as the default. A profile's tokens export as JSON for designers.
The editors
Each content type opens in the editor built for it.
Slides
The slide editor shows an outline you can reorder, retype and edit inline, and a canvas where elements drag, resize, snap to a tenth of an inch and nudge with the arrow keys. Swap an image by pasting an image URL or reusing one already in the deck. Elements of an imported deck become natively editable only where the operator turns on native editing, which is off by default; otherwise imported slides stay as drawn and you edit through Remix.
Documents and pages
Documents open in a block editor with headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, quotes, callouts (info, success, warning, danger), images, page breaks and design figures; a block the editor does not understand is preserved as is. Webpages open as a section preview rather than blocks: change them through Remix, or convert a deck to a page with a shape you choose.
Social posts and designs
A social piece is a list of posts, one per platform, each editable and ready for Publish. A design opens in the design editor with pages and layers; the pro design editor, behind the STUDIO_DESIGN_PRO flag and off by default, adds rulers and zoom, a layers rail, design tokens, a pen tool and boolean operations, prototyping links, saved versions, component and color libraries, an inspect panel and comment pins.
Comments and assets
Where the operator has turned comments on (off by default), the Comments tab lets any member of the workspace comment on a slide, a block, a section or the whole piece, @mention teammates (who are notified in the app), and resolve or reopen a thread. Only the author edits or moves a comment; the author or an admin deletes it.
Assets on a piece lists everything it carries in four tabs: all, slides, images, and sources and exports. It is read-only: open, download or share an item from there. Uploads live in your Library, which is also where the design editor's image picker looks.
View, present and convert
- Reading view at
/studio/<id>/viewshows the piece without the editing chrome, with a slide grid, speaker notes and an export button. Present goes full screen. - Convert to page turns a deck into a webpage: a title slide becomes the hero, bullet slides merge into features, a quote becomes a testimonial, pictures make a gallery and an imperative closing slide becomes the call to action. Pick a shape (story: one scrolling page with no JavaScript; deck: section by section; or a bundle), describe any image missing alt text, and optionally add an AI pass, which is the only part that costs credits.
Export and share
Open Export & Share in the editor's side rail.
| Type | Formats |
|---|---|
| Presentation | PPTX, PDF, PNG |
| Document | DOCX, PDF, Markdown |
| Webpage | HTML, PDF, PNG, a static bundle (index.html, styles.css and assets), Power Pages |
| Social | PNG, PDF |
| Design | SVG, PNG, JPEG, WebP, PDF, PPTX, an SVG set |
PNG exports take a resolution from 1× to 4×; a multi-page type exports whole, so choose PNG for a single page. The same sheet sends a piece to SharePoint, OneDrive or a Power Pages site when your Microsoft account is connected.
The Publish switch creates a public, read-only link at /studio/shared/<token> that anyone can open without signing in; they can download the file in its format or read it in the browser. Turning the switch off revokes the link immediately, and turning it on again issues the same link. Only the piece's owner can publish it, and you can switch viewer analytics on or off per piece.
Good to know
- Blank is free. A blank deck or design costs nothing; so does the live draft on the home page.
- Imports go through the home page. Drop a PowerPoint, Word file or PDF on the Studio home; see Import and templates for what survives.
- Flows can make content. A
studio.createstep in a flow generates a piece from a brief unattended; see Triggers and nodes. - Maps can too. A saved plan on a map chat has a Make an itinerary deck action that opens Studio.
- Mobile. The Akili app lists your pieces, creates one from a prompt or a template, and opens a viewer; editing stays on the web.
Frequently asked questions
What does it cost?
A generation is a flat 20 credits by default, shown on the Generate button before you press it. Remix, Try with my content on a template and the AI pass of Convert to page cost the same. AI images are 5 credits each, reserved up front and refunded down to what was used; stock images, blank content, the live three-slide draft on the home page and a plain convert are free.
Can Studio write in my language?
Generated content starts in American English. Use Remix's Translate to option to turn the finished piece into any of Akili's locales.
Can I upload my own images?
Yes. Add images, documents and notes as context when you create or remix (up to 20 files of 25 MB each; they are kept in your Library), pick an image from your Library in the design editor, or paste an image URL into a slide. Generated images come from the AI image option on the create form.
Who can see what I make?
Only you, until you share it. The Publish switch in Export & Share creates a public read-only link; turning it off revokes the link at once. Templates you save are private unless you share them with your workspace or submit them to the Akili catalog.
Why is there no design or comments option?
Designs, comments, the pro design editor and a few other surfaces are deployment flags an operator turns on; comments and the pro editor are off by default. When a surface is off, Studio hides it or says so, and nothing else changes.
